Houseboats in Saint Mary's

"Absolutely awful. If I could just simply swoop the stars and simply say, “Do Not Stay Here”, I would. It’s a Victorian home, as the name suggests, and the furniture might very well be original. The sofa is full of holes. The mattress, which they crammed into a space that leaves no room on the sides, is brutal; I’d be scared to see the condition of the mattress. The linens consist of a very thin sheet on the mattress, with an equally thin top sheet and “blanket” (which isn’t a blanket at all). They do NOT clean the room. We stayed for several days and the bed was never made. We did get clean towels once, but the overflowing garbages were left, so we did it ourselves. I’ve been going to Antigonish for several years, several times a year, as I have family attending St. FX (undergrad and post). I have stayed at many places in the town. The town was completely booked for graduation, which coincided with the weekend our child had to move to a different address. My wife and I agreed our car would have been more comfortable and we should have just stayed in another town and commuted. Just to be clear, I am not the type to complain about things, but I needed to provide this warning. The place is NOT run by locals who have any understanding of the town or what it takes to run an inn. I asked for a box of Kleenex and the person at the desk handed me the one in front of him. The cupboards in the kitchen: empty. I could go on, just ask me!"

"Breakfast was excellent as it was included. Rooms are dated and noisy due to thin walls. "

"Toilet needs to be cleaned (dirty upon arrival), the bathroom plug doesn’t work. Parking was great - right outside our room. Ample shops nearby for every shopping convenience. Lots of restaurant choices nearby as well to satisfy every palate."

"First time staying here , this 3 star motel grew on me, yes old facility, our room was big and bed comfortable. Had everything we needed it in the room, iron, coffee machine, fridge, microwave , glasses, from pack of jam, creme cheese and butter. Just across a really popular restaurant and gas station , they had bbq outside. And table and bench front of each room. About 7 min from Antigonish/StFX. Staffs was super nice and helpful also. We will be back "

"Ann Marie and Dave have made this a very special place. My ground floor room was ultra comfortable with spectacular garden and sea views. Dinner and breakfast were quite exceptional. I cannot recommend enough."
