"On arrival the staff were very friendly. They suggested a change of room assignment given that the Spurs were playing at home and the Riverwalk might get noisy, so we were switched to a pool view room. The room was excellent. The decor was modern and comfortable and for the most part fresh with minimal wear. The bathroom was good and the toiletries were quality. The only negative was that the room was fairly dark and given that opening the curtains gives a view into the room, this was less than ideal. Just a minor thing though that doesn't detract much from the overall experience. The hotel has a lot of charm and character and is a pleasant change from the usual chain hotel.
The hotel's location is excellent: walk out of the hotel straight onto the Riverwalk with several great restaurants on the doorstep; walk out the front to close proximity breakfast places and Starbucks.
The valet parking is very pricey at over $60/night and there is a safe self-park option literally 30 seconds away for $10/day.
There was torrential rain on our first night that overwhelmed the pool area and drainage system and led to the lower level having some water (I don't think it made it into the rooms). The staff were good natured and helpful during this time. By the following morning there was no sign that anything had happened.
Overall, A great short stay and will put La Mansion at the top of my list to stay at next time I'm in San Antonio."
