"The place is clean. The highway outside is loud and the windows are barely there. It sounds like the trucks using their engine braking are in the room with you and it’s busy all day and night. The place is really dated. AC is like a 1980’s car. Set it to a temperature and you have to put the fan on low, medium, high. Which means it’s loud all night. Desk staff are friendly, but the bar staff are not. They are rude. Buffet is repetitive and meh. You’re not walking to anything. The hills...

"The hotel had ants on the bed and it smelled like sewage. There’s something wrong with septic tank. They wouldn’t change our rooms or refund us after being in the room for 5 minutes. We didn’t even lay on the bed."

"We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Grano de Oro in San José. The room was beautiful and very comfortable, and we were especially fascinated by the charm of the historic building. The staff were consistently friendly, attentive, and welcoming, which made our stay even more enjoyable. The location is also excellent for exploring the city. Although breakfast is only offered à la carte, it was still very delicious and of high quality."

"I traveled to San Jose to visit my daughter while she was in an internship/study away program. Timing is everything and she ended up being terribly sick when I got there. I was so glad to have a clean, air conditioned place for her to recuperate with good food and helpful staff. After resting a few days at the Gran, she was ready for the remaining month of her program. Thank you to the staff who helped me get everything we needed to get her back up and running!"

"My family and I loved our stay here. I mostly chose it because of the breakfast buffet and it was great. Beds are comfortable and the AC kept the room nice and cool during a humid season. Room safe needed fresh batteries. Gym was ok. Couldn't get the stationary bike to work properly because of dead batteries. Couldn't get the treadmill to work either.
