"Great Sand Dunes Lodge is a great base camp with an unbeatable location right at the entrance to Great Sand Dunes National Park. The staff were friendly, the room was generally clean, and the simple grab-and-go breakfast was helpful before heading out. Stargazing right outside the room was a highlight. A few bugs (flys nothing scary), but overall a solid stay. Definitely recommend nearby Zapata Falls too."

"My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the Historic Plaza Hotel immensely. First, the receiving staff greeted us with a smile and really made us feel at home. Check-in was quick and easy. Next, the spacious room was immaculate (in every sense of the word) and well-decorated with objects that reflected the history and culture of the area. "The Lodge is under new ownership, and I was told they’re gradually improving things. However, I can only review the experience we had. While it is rustic and homey, we had some issues during our stay. + The check in/out process was very easy. + When our room only had 2 bath towels, the staff responded very quickly to get us 2 more. - The AC in our room was broken. - The ice machine was broken. - There was a crack/hole in the bathroom floor. - The tub was dirty and needed to be scrubbed....

"This was by far one of the quieter and best places we have ever stayed. You feel like you’re in a different part of the world. Love the rooms with great balcony and the biggest tub ever!! Never ran out of hot water !! Coffee in room was awesome and the restaurant was amazing!! Front desk staff of Kasey and Amy were incredible and Emma in restaurant as well!!!"

"My stay was peaceful. Perfect location to feel a part of nature but with the comforts of glamping. Staff in the office was delightful, gift shop is cute. It was wonderful to have coffee on the porch each morning of my trip. The ambiance of the location is worth every dollar spent."

Did not seem to fit the door jam. Coffe maker did not work and no coffee available anywhere on the property in the morning. Not a pleasant experience. Light in shower was out as well"

"It's a slice of heaven. Immediately adjacent to Philmont Scout Ranch. Setting is perfect, isolated, peaceful. The innkeeper are exceptional. The Casa is like a villa with rooms arra get around a gracious patio. I hated to leave."

"If you want to live in history, consider this place. We had a great time for a one night stay and should have stayed one more. Can handle a large group like a reunion too if planned and coordinated with property far enough in advance, which was a bit of a surprise."

"Our stay was enjoyable and the property offered an amazing view. The room was clean and the bed sheets were fresh, which we really appreciated. The only concern we had was that when we opened the drawers, there was noticeable dust inside. This caused us to cough and sneeze a couple of times, though it settled quickly afterward.
