This is a great place to stay if you enjoy tranquility, scenery and wildlife. Not great if you prefer a lively night scene. We ate at the restaurant every night because the food was so good but also because the drive back down the valley to the village was rather daunting in the dark. This hotel is second to none. There is only 5 rooms in the entire grounds, this means within minutes the attentive staff know your name and are doing everything they can for you. The service is excellent, the food excellent and the rooms are great. Loved the outdoor shower and glass toilet. We did an incredible day trip with Denis to waterfalls on horse back. Highly recommend the entire experience.

Awesome… A great welcome from the host and shown to the lodge which was wonderful. The secret garden is way up in the mountains overlooking Cartago and had it not been cloudy we would have seen a spectacular sun set, unfortunately we didn’t, but the cloud did ease off for a spectacular view of Cartago sparkling in the night far below our lodge. The most difficult thing appears to be able to find the hotel. It is off a busy road on a tight turn with limited width and you will find you have to use the intercom to get the gate to be opened.
