Overall is exellent except onsen is not good and not clean

This is a very comfortable hotel with friendly staff. We were on tge 8th floor and had a good view of the river. Breakfast was very good. Japanese style but with lots of choice. They also do free ramen in the evening, but was from 9.30pm so too late to be appealing to me. Lots of restaurants nearby, particularly doing seafood. The real benefit of the hotel was the onsen on the top floor. Wonderful views and even had an outdoor hot pool and a sauna as well as the usual baths. The sign did say no...

Very large hotel. Very helpful staff. On checkout day there had been heavy snow the nightmare whihc might have prevented me getting to the aiport. Staff were on top of situation and had already offered an extra night at a discounted rate if I was unable to depart as planned. In the end it wasnt needed but I was allowed to delay my check out time. Also helpful with sending diving gear ahead of check in

Great location, excellent breakfast and facilities.

This was a bit expensive for us, especially as it is a hostel and a bit out of town (20 min walk), but it was actually very nice indeed. The superb onsen was absolutely lovely with sea view, there was a nice reception, the shared lounge was enormous with amazing view and there was easy parking. We had a nice meal out at a friendly (recommended) local restaurant. Shiretoke is a truly beautiful nature reserve and well worth a visit. We were happy we stayed here.

An absolutely incredible hotel set within a stunning forest. You can watch the wildlife from the windows. We saw deer, a fox, birds including woodpeckers, butterflies and stag beetles. The onsen was great, especially the outdoor pool and the food was fantastic

Really nice hotel with beautiful Lakeside setting. Excellent public areas with free entertainment.

The hotel was typical rural Japanese, the showers are shared in the onsen area (no en suite). Breakfast was served to you but was really typical Japanese (don't expect western food here).

This hotel is located just a 5mins walk away from the Kawayu Onsen Station, but more ideal for travellers getting around with a car. Hotel is within driving distance of its surrounding attractions. The innkeeper was a very warm and friendly old man who although could hardly speak any English, won us over with his sincerity, hospitality as well as, his delicious breakfast set. It is a bit out of the way (you would prob need to drive here which is prob why we thought it was mainly for coach tours) but for a large and well appointed hotel it was remarkably good value for the room itself (which was well appointed with lovely bathroom). We chose not to have breakfast or dinner here as that seemed expensive so made do with what we picked up earlier at a conbini on the way here :). If you arrive by train, you will not find more convenient as it is directly across the road. Large enough room with a comfortable bed. Two family restaurants literally 2 minutes away for good value meal options.
