If you are in Stansted with a car and have a few hours to kill then I recommend the Freeport Retail Village in Braintree which is a 15min drive away. It is a very underrated outlet centre.

"Perfect best airport stay we have had for the price, bar and food was great, lively atmosphere and outdoor area was lovely in the sun. We went for a walk too, although would be nice to have a bit more information on what can be done in the area in the event of a layover."
