If it weren’t for the angel of a receptionist on the second night, I would have very negative feelings about this place. At check-in, we were deceived and lied to by another receptionist who gave no explanation as to why we couldn’t have the family suite we booked. She simply sent us to a room with one king-size bed without asking if I was comfortable sharing a bed with another adult, or explaining why we weren’t getting the room we reserved.
The second room she offered had no heat, just like the suite I originally booked. I asked, “What’s the difference between the room I ordered with no heat and this other room next to it with no heat?” She let me test it, and it was so-so. Given the choice between one bed or no heat, I chose what I originally booked.
We had booked two nights. I asked if I could get a refund for the second night and leave in the morning. I could handle the cold for one night, but not two. She told me that since I booked through the app, the app had to approve it. When I contacted the app, they said they needed to verify with the hotel. That same receptionist then told them “no,” claiming she had already given me options. This was frustrating, especially after being told the app had control.
Thankfully, the receptionist the next morning was amazing. She found us a double-bed room with heat and was honest, explaining she couldn’t issue a refund because the boss was on vacation. If not for her honesty and effort, I would have left and cut my losses
