"The Blue Gate Inn is a wonderful place for families, girlfriends’ weekends, couples, etc. Most of the places people visit Shipshewana for are very close . The front of the building is immaculately landscaped and very welcoming. The lobby is clean, well lit and decorated with a little section of books, a staircase and a hallway that led to the breakfast area, the pool, arcade and an ice cream parlor. There was an Amish buggy as a booth!! The ice cream was very good! They also serve pizza.
We had reserved the Royal Suite which consisted of a seating area with a small fridge, bar sink, microwave and a Keurig coffee maker. Bedroom 1 wasn’t a bedroom per se, as it was in between the seating area and another bedroom. The small bedroom contained a Queen bed and was right next to the bathroom. The larger bedroom contained a king bed, tv, large open closet, a bureau and two nightstands, as well as a large picture window. Everything was spotless and fresh smelling. The bathroom was nothing special but it was very clean. The towels were clean, stain-free and fluffy. The beds were very comfy. We really enjoyed our free breakfast. The buffet was well stocked with scrambled eggs, biscuits & gravy, breakfast meats, fruit, pastries and more. There was also an omelette station.
I must mention the staff. So welcoming and helpful. The front desk always had smiles and the housekeepers were very accommodating. We loved this hotel and plan to stay again."
