"This was our (family of four age 9 and 11 kids) first Ryokan experience. It was incredible. We loved the authentic Japanese feel. It was an adventure getting there on a boat and we rented bikes next door for a beautiful all day ride. It’s a great spot to ride from in the middle of the Kaido. If you want a traditional, relaxing stay—book this! We hope to return. (We did 2 rooms with 2 people each because the bedrooms are smallish.)"

"We stayed at the Azumi for one night. After a dreary day of cycling, we were looking forward to some pampering. The staff were very accommodating and helpful. The room was gorgeous - large and serene with nice appointments like a shoe dryer for wet days (genius!). The food at the on-site restaurant is very good."

"The facility feels pretty old. In the public bath, half of the overhead lights and 2 out of the 3 sink faucets didn’t work. Additionally, the walls of my room were quite thin and the outside hallway was very echoey. I layed down and tried to go to bed early at 8pm, but I couldn’t fall asleep because other guests coming in and out of their rooms on their way to and from the public bath and microwave in the hallway were so noisy. Also, there is nothing nearby the hotel in terms of restaurants or bars. The hotel is about a 25-minute walk from the ferry port to Ohkuno (Rabbit) Island, but there’s no sidewalk along most of the road. You’ll have to walk alongside traffic. After returning from Ohkuno Island at 4:30 pm, I discovered that there were no dining options for dinner anywhere near the restaurant. There are no nearby convenient stores either, with the exception of the FamilyMart near the ferry port. The restaurant does not offer food, so I went to bed without dinner. The staff were very warm and friendly! Though clean, the room and amenities were certainly not brand new and the ocean view from my room was mainly of the roof outside the window."
