Our isolation and dark skies are a part of what makes Terlingua Ranch special to many people.

I am so sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay with us. Our location, as indicated in a confirmation letter and welcome letter when you book with us, is remote - 16 miles off Highway 118, the last three miles being dirt/rock - and offers spectacular views of the mountains and wildlife who call it home. Terlingua is 34 miles from the Lodge.

Hello, EB. I'm sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay at Terlingua Ranch.For those reading this review: two pairs of our rooms have doors that lead into adjoining rooms for family use. Each cabin unit does share a front porch with the room next door. When you reserve your room, you will receive a confirmation email. In it is information including directions to the lodge, a description of the road and, distance to the park (36 miles). The rooms do not have coffee makers, but some of our guests bring their own. Each room is equipped with a dorm-style refrigerator. Use of the pool is free, and extra towels are available from housekeeping or the front desk. It is difficult to imagine a driver taking an hour and a half to drive the 36 miles to the park entrance. Wherever you make a reservation it is wise to read your confirmation letter. We are a remote, but splendid location in the heart of the world's largest international dark sky reserve. We treasure our isolation and that is what makes Terlingua Ranch special to many of our guests.

I'm sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay. For our prospective guests, there is a reason this is an anonymous review. Please read your confirmation letter, which this guest clearly did not. The following is a review from another guest, who stayed with us at the same time this guest did: "If you want to be in the middle of nowhere this is the place for you. There is no lights for miles which makes stargazing breathtaking! Warning: the last 3 miles before the resort are a graded dirt road. Totally worth it though!"We have the darkest skies in the country, are surrounded by mountains, have a restaurant that is open 7 days a week from 7am to 8pm (9pm during our busy seasons), the prettiest pool in Texas, and are very remote. The last three miles of road is easily passable in any passenger car. It is 31 miles to the gas station, not 45, but it is about a 45 minute drive to the park entrance. We treasure the beauty and solitude of our location, but it is not for everyone.
