This waterfall has a natural gas leak that can be lit and hold a flame. When I went the falls was at a trickle because of no rain, this made the hike easy as you often need to cross the riverbed to stay on a trail. A stronger fall would have made for a cool long exposure but I'm happy for dry feet! It's not a long hike but uphill on the way back. This park is well cared for and I enjoyed the silence compared to the other parks we visited. #TakeAHike #NewYorkState

This is Eternal Flame Falls (aka Chestnut Ridge Falls). This waterfall has an unexpected twist, there is a natural gas vent behind the falls that maintains a flame. A surreal experience to hear the flame flickering over the sound of the cascading water.
