Visit India Gate, India’s national monument, which is dedicated to fallen soldiers. India Gate is a 138-foot- (42-meter) tall archway honoring the tens of thousands of Indian soldiers who died serving in the British Army in World War I. Look for the inscriptions of the names of more than 13,000 soldiers who died in the Afghan War of 1919. Mounted under the arch is the Amar Jawan Jyoti, an eternal flame commemorating unknown soldiers who lost their lives in various wars.

Swaminarayan Akshardham in New Delhi is among the largest Hindu temples in the world. It showcases ancient Indian architecture and traditions, and educates visitors about Hindu heritage and spirituality. “Akshardham” means the home of the supreme god.

Known locally as the Great Mosque of Old Delhi, Jama Masjid draws visitors and religious pilgrims alike for its divine beauty and spectacular views.

Huge, red sandstone walls, which stand 110 feet (33 meters) high in some parts, gave Red Fort in New Delhi its name. The walls were built to keep out invaders during the reign of the Mughal Emperor of India Shah Jahan in the 17th century. Shah Jahan is also famous for founding the Taj Mahal.
