Hotel Miramare - Adults Only

"Looked nice in the photos but reality was different. Room was not that clean (hair on the floor and shower grubby). Rooms are soundproof - not true . We heard the lift regularly and early in the morning heard constant noise as breakfast was set up below our room. Also bedside light was broken so a clip on lamp had been added - the problem was it had a loose wire so didn’t work all the time or flickered. We reported it and nothing was done. The bedside space is very cramped - the photos are deceptive. We only had 1 set of towels - again when we mentioned this they sent up 1 beach towel! No bath or hand towel. The restaurant was shut, only the Bistro was open with very limited menu. Breakfast was fine but I didn’t appreciate being told off for using the wrong bread in the toaster (really) and we also got told off for taking a bottle of water to our table (we drank it all so it didn’t go to waste). We were told there were too many guests for us to do this. There were no coffee or tea making facilities in the room. We asked for a kettle and the receptionist went to get a kettle but came back with a teapot and two cups. On asking for 1 teabag we were charged 4 Euros for the privilege. Bearing in mind this is shown as 4 star on the website - to my mind it was nowhere near. I would never recommend this hotel - on our 7 week trip this has been the most disappointing so far. I don’t understand how it’s getting a high rating."

"The hotel is in the restored former headquarters of an insurance company. It has a grand entrance. (You may need the porter's help with luggage to get up the stairs). The bar is on an old classical style room which was great for cocktails. It is worth exploring the 1st floor. The rooms are modern, large and comfortable with nice bathrooms. The hotel is downtown and very convenient for walking to see the town and sites. The staff service was excellent. The breakfast provided a number of choices, but was, for Italy, slightly bland. (We may have been spoiled at some of the other hotels we stayed at). Otherwise the breakfast room is well appointed and again had excellent service. I would stay again."

"Hotel is in a great position right opposite the cruise port and adjacent to the town. There are plenty of good restaurants close by. The hotel itself is one of faded glory. It’s obvious it’s seen better days. I found the check in staff rather abrupt, though the bar staff were lovely. The room itself was quite spacious and the bathroom huge and marble. Blackout curtains were effective, but spilled light all around. I thought one 500ml bottle of water between two of us rather mean. Bed was comfortable but the pillows rather flat. I would stay here again, though my expectations would now align with reality rather than images on their website"

"This was the best hotel my wife and I have ever stayed in our world travels so far. The staff was very professional, courteous and attentive to our every concern. We never waited long when emailing them a single inquiry. They provided personal transport from the airport to their hotel upon our arrival as well as transfer back to the airport on our day of departure. The driver was highly professional, helpful with our luggage and accommodating. The entire hotel--particularly the rooms we reserved--was very clean, well-ventilated and orderly. Bedding, restroom, floor, mirrors and even television were all clean. They helped us with our many luggage bags, safely stored them before our room was ready and had their transport service at the ready the moment we had our early morning checkout at 4:00am. The breakfast bar was plentiful: breads, pastries, fresh meats, a wide selection of juices and fresh-made espresso from the bar. We have never met a friendlier, more professional hotel staff than that of Victoria Letterario. They made our introduction into Italy a most-welcome and stress-free one. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone booking a trip to Trieste, Italy."

"The room was clean and in a good location. There was no A/C, however (we were told it was Sunday and there was no solution before we checked out). It was quite warm and it was quite loud with all the windows open. The WiFi was very poor."
