Amazing stay for my birthday with my gf. It was so nice to have a quiet place to stay with 3 private baths. They were so beautiful and relaxing to use (even at 2am xD). Hiriko (hopefully i spelt that write :/) was amazing and was around to help when needed. They even got someone to pop over and collect our luggage. Food was amazing too. Will definetly be coming back next year.

Traditional property with aircon in the room and very comfortable mattresses for on the floor sleeping. Enclosed balconies with lovely views and private onsen available. The food was excellent and the owner went out of his way to help us with sightseeing when we told them we did not have a car. Highly recommended!

We booked the Shibu Hotel as part of our plan to visit the nearby Snow Monkey Park. The quality of the hotel sevice was immediately evident when they provided a car to collect us from the station. They then drove us to the Snow Monkey Park and arranged to collect us when we had finished our visit. (In passing, the Snow Monkey Park is a 'must see' in the winter - spectacular views of dozens of macaque monkeys enjoying the hot thermal springs.) It was a beautiful place to stay with a lovely room and a modern bathroom attached. The old style was really beautiful with the dark wood. The staff were so friendly and helpful. We stayed 4 nights and used it as a base for Kamikochi and the wasabi farm and cycle in Azumino as well as the Castle in Matsumoto itself.

the owners made us feel very at home, they could not do more to please us as their guests, we were treated more like family! the Japanese breakfast we courteously served, it was delicious! we could not recommend this Ryokan enough, especially with the obliging owners!

great ryokan collected my luggage from the friendly tourists information office while I toured the town. receptionist spoke good English great kaseki dinner and breakfast. Ryokan took me and my luggage to the station. quiet and peaceful sleep

Don’t go for the Onsen, although the waters are incredible there is absolutely no view. Property and rooms very dated (70’s Japan) but staff, breakfast and location excellent to reach out in to the mountains to hike or visit the three great temples in Bessho. For £100 a night we visited after our Kanazawa trip, early check in and reasonable check out time with breakfast allows one to really relax, even if for a day.

I’m impressed
