Post-hike, we moved from Tokyo to Osaka with a stop at the Ryokan in Shimada. Two families (eight of us) stayed at Kappo Ryokan Uoichi and had a wonderful time. "Staff were very helpful when i checked in here. I did get the impression they dont get too many overseas travellers but this did not stop them from being friendly and providing the service they would provide anyone staying there. This place also advertised a public bath available which i regretfully did not use as i was not there long enough. I was only here for one night on a stop but when i took a stroll around the neighbourhood i felt very safe and there were plenty of convenience stores....

"For what it was, the stay was perfect. Friendliest staff I have ever encountered in a hotel. Room was spotless clean, had a very nice firm bed and more provided pillows than most hotels, the hotel had plenty of amazing restaurants in close proximity, a Konbini on the ground floor With a smoking area, and is a short walk from the nearest train station. Will be coming back if I ever pass through again."
