"Disappointed unfortunately. Blood stain on mattress protector and although the bedroom was large, the furniture was shabby and in need of replacement. The spa area was tired. Some of the grout needs replacing. One member of breakfast staff was really stolen could not even crack a smile. My husband ordered some champagne to the room as a birthday surprise but despite 2 Reminders they still did not bring it. This was probably a nice hotel once unfortunately now not great."

"Great property. Very conveniently located 5 minutes walk away from the train station and 10 minutes walk from major destinations. Live music at the bar was a great surprise. All amenities you'd expect from an older establishment, everything in well working conditions, some upgrades may be necessary but mainly esthetics and not function. The staff are extremely polite and accommodating. I'd definately stay here again if ever back in York."

"Without many notice we were given a room with adjoining door to the next room .. the noise from the next room was such that we had to request another room.. then the 2nd room had a double bed instead of the twin we had booked . A single duvet was supplied with no cover , the double duvet was put on the floor on day 2 . The bathroom extractor didn’t work. The whole hotel is somewhat jaded and not at all what I had expected ."

"The apartment was in a great location making it easy to get to all the main places in the city. It was comfortable and a nice size. It could do with some maintenance as the floor was damaged in some places, the toilet worked but had a broken mechanism, just bits and pieces that could do with a bit of care."

"The hotel has a modern/hip vibe, starting with the lobby which is centered around the bar that also serves as the check-in desk. This is where breakfast is served. The room was modern, well maintained and functional, but a little tight on space for 2-people with large suitcases. There is no closet or draws (a few coat-hooks) and so plan to live out of your suitcases. It is well located a short distance from the Shambles, Minster and other attractions. It is also close to many shops, pubs, a restaurants. Overall, it was a good choice. One thing that we didn't like was that the rooms don't have safes and the hotel safe is a room safe located behind the bar. We had passports and valuables in zip-lock bags, to which thay added a sticky-note with our room number on and didn't provide us with a receipt."
