"We have stayed here a few times. This past was a little disappointing. When we got to the property, we found out there would be a $40 a day amenity fee. This was not mentioned on hotels.com. We were not expecting to add an extra $200 to our stay. And for what? The pools were dirty and falling apart. The tile needed to be scrubbed and it would be nice if someone would take a skimmer and skim all the junk out of the pool. There used to be a few waiters/waitresses to take drink food orders. Now there is only one and she can be found at the bar sitting. BTW the front desk ladies are lazy. The first room we went to, the sliding door didn't work. When we mentioned it we were told to go look at some other rooms. Umm no, fix it! When we wede checking out, my husband needed a cart so we could pack our car. He couldn't find one so he asked and was told to go look for one or check the other hotel. Umm no, that's their job. They won't do anything but check their computer. A shame things have gone down hill."

"Not exaggeration to state that this was one of the best hotel stays we've ever had. Everything about this property was immaculate. Truly amazing experience. We would highly recommend staying here. We particularly appreciated the pool, and of course every interaction with hotel staff was wonderful. Very well done!"

"We've been traveling for over 30 years and this was one of the best accommodations we've ever stayed at. Our stay in Charleston was absolutely wonderful! The entire place was super clean, my wife said the entire place smelled wonderful. The staff was terrific. The boys that took us anywhere we wanted to go in Charleston at no charge with the hotel Jeep, were so great. The waitresses at the roof top restaurant, the front desk staff and everyone that worked there were so friendly and accommodating. The complimentary breakfast delivered in a small picnic basket every morning was great. Our suite with a full kitchen, living room, bedroom with a walk-in closet, 1- 1/2 bathrooms and cathedral ceilings was so beautiful. What really made our suite over the top perfect was a fully furnished rooftop balcony, but balcony doesn't do it justice, this was the full length of our suite with double glass doors in the kitchen, living room and bedroom. It made walking into the suite from the hall breathtaking upon every entrance. We did not want to leave. A wonderful experience from when we first walked in until the valet gave us our vehicle to go home."

"The Francis Marion is a historic hotel and scores top for location. The staff were helpful at check in, however, it was like any hotel thereafter. The rooms are old and the bathrooms are outdated. The flush in the toilet has had to be used at 3-4 each time. The counter space was very small. Lots of good coffee places and restaurants in walking distance. Overall good experience, nothing outstanding."
