They let us stay in the room where Dalia Lama once stayed and we felt honoured and privileged. We left Munich to drive towards Rotherburg and then on to the hotel. It was such a memorable journey in that the country side scenic was overwhelmingly beautiful..... We want to come back to this part of Germany next year and stay at this wonderful hotel.

Great hotel in great condition. Good service and great restaurant

Great hotel with great restaurant

I had a very clean single "comfort" room with large bathroom, balcony and a great view of the river. Easy walking distance to the town centre, beautiful, quiet location with nature walks in front of your doorstep. Great breakfast, eggs and bacon made on the spot to your order.

The Lochner is in Markelsheim (not Bad Mergenteim, as appears on some sites). Markelsheim is a charming wine village situated under impressively steep vine slopes. The hotel is as charming as the village. It's a classic old German building into which they've somehow managed to install lifts. Some of the floors are on "half-storeys" so not all the rooms avoid stairs. There was ample parking at the back, though the spaces were tight. I went for a higher level of room and it was fantastic 101 Very modern and to a high standard. Ac worked really well. The food was very good here and the bar staff amazing!! Ive stayed in Germany many times and this is the best hotel ive been too. The bar area and restaurant are dated, i assume how modern my room is, the hotel is having a revamp.

Very comfortable stay, rooms spacious and quiet.

Staffs were exceptionally kind and friendly. Very clean and spacious rooms for a couple with a child. Had a dinner at the hotel retaurant and it was surprisingly good- good taste, good presentations... Would stay here again and definately recommand to friends. Can't ask anything more for the price I paid.
