Alishan Tea Homestay

"A fantastic location in the mountains to have your stay in Alishan outside the forest. My wife and I decided to stay here after staying in Alishan Forest so we could do the Shizhuo Trails. Joan our host was amazing. She picked us up with our luggage from the bus stop and dropped us off at the trails so we could enjoy it at our own pace before sunset. She also gave great recommendations for dinner near Shizhuo bus stop opposite the 7 eleven for the local food and picked us up after dinner back to the accommodation. Excellent service and going above and beyond she also pointed us to a lovely sunrise spot about a 20mins walk from the accommodation. She gives great service and advise for any plans you have including advising us to take an earlier bus down to Chaiyi so that there would be space on board. Rooms are extremely clean and everything was working well including the wifi and there was also hot&cold water dispenser. Would come back again."

"Very helpful and accommodating staff. Our room was the Japanese style mats. If you want a big bed watch if it is labeled Japanese style. It is right in the middle of the shops and eating area. It was very quite."

"Excellent location for quick access to the trails. However, note that private cars cannot access hotel--you need to take shuttle to the village, which runs every 30 min only. Terrific service. Excellent buffet. The "historical" = old building was clean but out of date."

"The location of this hotel is just amazing. You really are nestled right in the midst of tea plantations. The views are spectacular and the tea trails are worth exploring. Honestly, I loved it even more than the time I spent on Alishan National Park. But these views come with a price if you don’t have your own mode of transportation, like your own car. We arrived to the area (Shizhao) by bus, but to get to the hotel, you have to prearrange a pickup with a driver recommended by the hotel (there’s no Uber). So it is a must to be in communication with the hotel before getting there. Just the one way drive alone was 300NT which was more than the price of the bus ticket to get from Chiayi to Shizhao. This same process is repeated getting from the hotel to the Shizhao bus stop. I highly recommend getting the dinner at the hotel. It was so much food that I couldn’t finish everything."

"There are multiple buildings in this property, all require a bit of walking. Make sure that you don't carry a heavy suitcase. As the property is built along the mountains, some walkways can be difficult with heavy luggage. Yet, the friendly staff will drop off the luggage as close to the buildings as possible. There is no restaurant close by but the property offers hotpot dinner (one person per pot) which is pretty good, big portion too. Since the property is deep in the mountain, I would recommend aim at arriving the property before dark. Close to the property (about 20 min walk), there is a trail that leads to a spot where sunrise can be viewed. However, the signs are not that clear. Clarify with the staff the night before you go. All in all, this hotel is good, room is clean with good mountain view."

"The hotel was spotlessly, clean, the pool and hot tub on the rooftop were wonderful, particularly when you watch the sunrise. The rooftop bartender was engaging and entertaining, very fun. The staff at check-in and check out efficient, kind, and delightful."
