The West Kootenay Scenic Route is incredible when heading north to Kamloops. You will have wild views of the mountains and animal encounters. Surrounded by millions of Ponserosa Pines which feel like your trapped in a snow globe during the winter. 

While in the area make sure to also check out the beaches of Nakusp BC. A swimmable mountain rimmed lake in the summer that will melt all your troubles away.
