"Basic safari hotel. Institutional catering. Unfortunately, the Safari vehicles were worn out and very uncomfortable. They had not replaced the shock absorber which made the drive very uncomfortable. "This was one of the nicest places we’ve ever stayed. It was scenic, top service, amazing meals and in a great location. The most important part was the staff. They are the most welcoming, kind and considerate staff. I had a bit of a stomach flu and the entire staff was going out of their way to help me. They made me ginger tea and the chef made me chicken soup. It was so nice. I highly recommend this property and Franshhoek as a place to visit. "

"Nuwerus was one of the "fortunate" yet "unfortunate" places in Paarl that was "hit" hard with the recent fires. It was so close to the main buildings that I can only descibe it as hair-raising. Yet although you can see the fire damage to the gardens etc the service was once again spot-on and the facilities as clean and well appointed as we are used to. The owners really does care about the customers as well as the property. Well done is all I can say. Already booked my next stay."

Even with load-shedding the essentials were working and the Grill Room gave excellent meals including breakfast. The only "question" I have is why breakfast only starts at 8. Does result in coming late at the office. "

For Europeans not used to loadshedding, bring mosquito repellent to protect yourself from their arrival when the fan stops! This will not stop me from coming back each time I will visit Paarl. "Beware - The lodge is not serving its inclusive breakfast and doesn't compensate for its absence. The housekeeper was charming and efficient but the manager was elusive and hasn't responded to communications. We had just stayed at a guest house a few km to the north where we had a lovely daily breakfasts so unclear why DWWL couldn't provide what we had paid for. A voucher, or some Rand, to use at a local cafe would have been sufficient. "

"One of the best experiences of my life. The property is beautiful with amazing views. The booking includes the lunch, dinner, Breakfast and 2 game drives. Be sure to get to the property by noon and enjoy the views and Spa treatments (affordable and very relaxing) the sunset game drive was beautiful and we saw Giraffe, lions, elephants, hippos and zebras. The staff is helpful and do their best to make our experience very entertaining and exciting. Loved our stay!"
