"We booked a luxury room, but it looked smaller than the one on the photo, but it was good. The bedding and room was spotless, but the paintwork wants touching up in places. The en suite bathroom was huge. The hotel building is Victorian with beautiful staircases, chandeliers and rooms, and some famous people have stayed there in the past. Car parking is close, next to the hotel, and costs around £15 per 24 hours and there were plenty of vacant spaces when we arrived. There was some discarded empty beer cans, bottles and glasses on one of the landings when we arrived, and they were still there two days later when we left. The staff were pleasant, helpful and friendly. It's about a ten-minute walk into Chester centre. Breakfast was buffet style with the usual English cooked, fruit, yoghurt etc. If you arrive by train, the station is across the road from the hotel."
