I had a very enjoyable stay at Hotel Monaco in Armenia, Colombia. The hotel is in an excellent location, right on a pedestrian walkway with plenty of shops, restaurants, and other businesses just steps away. There is a grocery store, dollar store, and several places to eat nearby, and a shopping mall is only a few blocks away. It was very convenient to just walk out of the hotel and have almost everything I needed close by. The service was excellent and available 24 hours a day. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, and I also found the people throughout Armenia to be very friendly and welcoming. Another big plus was the value. The hotel was very reasonably priced, and I found restaurants, shopping, and other everyday expenses in the area to be very affordable as well. The only negative I would mention is that the hotel does not have an elevator. The rooms are on the second and third floors, so anyone who has difficulty climbing stairs should take that into consideration. Overall, Hotel Monaco was a great value in a very convenient location. Good service, friendly people, plenty of restaurants and shopping within walking distance, and reasonable prices. I would definitely stay here again.

Downtown Armenia: Safe, clean, great location

I think this is a great place to stay when visiting Armenia and the surrounding areas. The location is perfect and can be a home base when traveling to surrounding towns and attractions. It is on a pedestrian-only street so there is no noise from traffic. It can get loud on the street on the weekend so request a room at the back of the hotel. The security is very good, the hotel is clean, the staff is helpful and kind. This is a great hotel for the price and after spending an entire week here, I would easily stay again.

Large cockroach upon arrival. Listing included a bathtub. There was a tub that was in a separate room and locked. They said it was not included. No breakfast. We left the key at the desk when we went out . When we returned there was no one at the desk but the key was easy to see and reach..

Mejoras a hacer

North American couple on vacation: we liked this hotel, it's small, clean, the staff was friendly. It looked like the pictures, and had a pedestrian only street in front. The mattress was the hardest we'd ever encountered. Our issue was being white people with poor Spanish. We chose Armenia as a bigger town central to the coffee growing area, as we were going to be visiting several towns in the area. This hotel isn't in tourist area, though. Don't look for English to be spoken. We stood out from the locals and were targeted by beggars.Having said that, we had no problem with getting Ubers at the corner and it's cheap to get to Filandia etc. Also, we love street food so the vendors around this hotel were great, especially the arepa vendors - in this area the arepas were fluffy pancakes filled with mild cheese then butter and honey on top. Yummy!
