"We were excited to visit the Moonrise after several years of wanting to. We arrived after 10:00 pm. The neighborhood is progressive and eccentric. We understand that. BUT, there were just too many loiterers on the property who seemed "sketchy" and where we are from, we understand sketchy.
We asked the front desk clerk to put us away in a quiet area. I smiled and indicated understanding. He put us right beside the elevator bank and across the hall from the ice machine. The ice machine did not work, so we didn't get the added disturbance. However, I had to get on the elevator and go to the next floor for ice.
Our room had a coffee maker with no coffee cups, paper or ceramic.
Our room had an iron with no ironing board, and this happened to be a time when we needed it. Upon setting up our own ironing surface, we found the iron surface to be sticky with we don't know what.
Upon checkout, we informed the desk clerk of all these issues and basically got a "sorry" (like your kids give to one another when forced) and blamed the City for the loiterers. Rather than the hotel engaging their own security, they have a sign taped to the door that says something like "if this is locked, call this number ...." That says it all."
