"This place is amazing. The hosts are warm, kind, and welcoming, even giving us a tour of their facility (and the swimming horses!). We woke up every morning and went to bed every night watching the horses through our large window. The room was very spacious and included everything we needed—a stovetop, microwave, toaster, kettle, etc. It was a perfect spot to use as our home base for our adventures. Very calm and quiet, and close enough to both Vik and Reykjavík. We will definitely be back on...

"Very artsy decor which seems very unique for Iceland which is usually more sterile/minimalist. The hot tub was not hot enough for our liking. Otherwise very cool place to stay for a night."

"The room we were in was way too hot, with no way to change it other than opening the windows, which let in a lot of biting bugs. There was no cold water; only very hot water came out of the faucets and shower, so we were unable to take a shower or get a glass of cool water."

"I stay at the Eldhestar whenever it is available. Being a photographer, I travel to Iceland a lot (19 times in the last three years). This hotel has the most bang for your buck. Great rooms, nice people, and you get to say hello to the horses each morning on your way out. Near the Golden Circle, Reykjavík, the south coast, and even a day trip to Jökulsárlón is easily doable. I always come back to Eldhestar, and will continue to do so."

"We had a wonderful two night stay here. It is a bit away from anything which we liked, but be sure to plan accordingly. It was easy to spend the day on the ring road leaving that morning and making our way back in the evening (the never ending sunlight helped). The room is well appointed, everything you could need in the kitchen. My daughter loved playing with their two well behaved dogs. Be sure to pay attention to their directions, apple maps will take you 30 minutes in the wrong direction."

"The hotel is not fancy but it doesn't have to be. The chief/manager was so very kind and made me a packed lunch instead of the contineal breakfast. Nothing fancy, but it hit the spot. Was a really special spot and one of the highlights of my trip. "

"Schönes Hotel, allerdings im Juni extrem heiß im Zimmer obwohl es draußen nur 12 Grad hatte. Vom Lüften wurde wegen Mückenplage abgeraten. Zwischen Matratze und Bett waren sehr viele Haare. Frühstück war gut."

"Good location, friendly staff, decent breakfast. Maybe the other rooms were nicer but the room with twin beds was just right near the parking space and weirdly laid out. It just looked ‘stripped’. Old curtains, no headboard, harsh overhead lights, sink in the room corner (which wouldn’t fit even a small bottle)"

"The goods: the lady let us check in 1 hr earlier, the property was cleaned and well maintained. The horse farm is very nice and the horses are super friendly and cute. The bad: the temperature downstairs (living room and kitchen) was very hot without any way to turn it down. We opened the window in the bedroom upstairs but that brought 100s of bugs that were biting us. Between the very uncomfortable temperature and the bugs it was a very bad night.
