"Friendly family business, good value. Comfortable bed and hot shower which was exactly what I needed after 18 hours of international travel. I stayed 2 nights in late September to attend a wedding in nearby Ripponden. The room was quite chilly but I actually like sleeping in a cold room. A space heater was provided, though I didn’t use it as the bed was cosy enough. It was handy that they served food downstairs and I really appreciated the vegetarian/vegan selections including veggie sausages...

"The nice pictures on the webpage do not reflect the reality, as these are from restaurant only. The hotel and the rooms are old, not refurbished nor renovated, smelling badly, bathroom old and not really nice. Aircond/ hester laud and smelling badly. We could not make use of the breakfast, as on weekends breakfast is available from 8am on only. In the restaurant, there are no prices on the menue for drinks - watch out, not to be badly surpriced! The only positive aspect is: convenient location...

"Loud. Incredibly loud. First, they gave no indication that the room I was staying in opened directly onto the street. The door lock was strange, perhaps just something I'm not used to, but I struggled with ensuring that it was locked during the night. (I work in a technical field, I'm not dim, but jeez, I felt stupid) Considering people milling around outside the pub at night were quite drunk, shouty, and possessed of questionable decision making, I ended up putting a chair in front of the door...

"I would not recommend booking the dinner, bed, and breakfast package. The dinner was not truly included; instead, it operated as a voucher towards the meal, and this was not made particularly clear. In addition, the shower was extremely disappointing, providing little more than a drizzle and reminding me of an older electric shower from decades ago.
