Great stay in the middle of a historic gold rush town. The staffnenhances our stay with great service and in-character conversations, bringing us back to the 1870's. We would stay again!

If you want an authentic historic experience of Barkerville, this is the place to stay. Small but confortable rooms and excellent service from Ria add to the enjoyment.

It was so quiet and unique staying in this heritage hotel right in Barkerville, no cars or highway noise! The room was small but to be expected! We enjoyed sitting on the deck overlooking the town. Reia was a wonderful host, woke us up to the smell of her baking for breakfast. Her breakfasts were delicious. We highly recommend. We had the room with a private bathroom.

The hotel brings guests back into the late 1800’s with period furniture inside the hotel located inside a national historic site. The shared balcony outside our room was a highlight and allowed us to “people watch” while sitting in the shade sipping cold drinks. The room was exceptionally clean and the host (owner/operator) was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

A dream come true !! We loved staying at the St.George Hotel! So much charm here at this special place. Thankful for all the thought and care Ria pours into this establishment! Barkerville is a Canadian treasure . It was so magical and educational at the same time!! The morning breakfast was delicious. A 10 out 10

An amazing place to stay to experience Barkerville. The staff were incredible and knowledgeable, we learned so much from them. The hotel was clean no the morning breakfast was perfect.

Likes: Enjoyable stay within the historical site. Enjoyed the use of the outside balcony; Clean character rooms; Very nice continental breakfast, coffee and tea available for evenings. Very friendly staff. Parking plentiful outside the entry gate. I would definitely come back here again.

Loved my 2 nights stay. Very comfortable and unique room - in the spirit of Barkerville. Conveniently in heart of town - no need to drive anywhere once there. Staff were so friendly and helpful and breakfast was perfect with option for tea and cookies during the day to take a break. A must stay when visiting Barkerville.

This is a beautifully decorated hotel in the style of the era. Comfortable room and very clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good also. This is a great place to stay at least 2 nights to get a good feel for the Baskerville of old.

Our stay at the St.George was absolutely amazing. The continental breakfast in the morning was above and beyond…and not your standard continental breakfast. Ria was warm , friendly and ensured our stay was comfortable. I will definitely be back for our next adventure to Barkerville.

Located right on Main Street in the centre of Historic Barkerville, the room and the parlour (to which I had complete access and could curl up with a cup of tea and a book) fit the time period perfectly. Even the gracious and helpful proprietress was in period costume.

Turn of the century building once used as a brothel for the town of Barkerville. The decor is authentic and the propitress Ream is lovely, running the hotel and the restaurant/saloon across the way. Rooms are small but comfortable, we had a private bath which was nice. Breakfast was varied, good quality and plentiful! We spent lots of time on the terrace overlooking town. Super cool to spend the night in the town. No one lives in Barkerville full time, except the hotel owner, but it didn't feel isolated or scary. No TV on property, with good wifi, so bring your kids devices if they aren't readers! 2 nights was way lots to see all of Barkerville, we saw every building and read every panel. Could have probably done it in one night, though the downtime and quiet was good for the soul. There are 3 options for meals served until 6pm, fancier food Lazy Jakes, Chinese (which is good) in the Chinatown part, and after 6pm the Saloon Restaurant serves sandwiches and chili until 9pm. We got lucky, July and we had no smoke at all, but 2nd morning there was ash on the car. Not too bad at all.

Feel like you are living in the late 1800’s!

Traveling with our friends from Ireland we had an amazing time at the St. George Hotel. Ria, the proprietor was friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. Decor takes one back to the late 1800’s and rooms well appointed. Just a note that some rooms have shared bathrooms. Would stay again and recommend highly.
