"Loved this property! It’s was very clean. Loved the themed decor. We had the Octopus room with view of the coffee house across the street with a peek a boo view of the bay from the balcony. We went on Memorial Day weekend & it was very pleasant. We enjoyed the outdoor fire place on the table & electric fire place in the room. Beds were very comfy. We will be going back & get a room over looking the bay next time. Highly recommend!!!"

"Hands down one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in: I spent two nights and two days here with my girlfriend for our 2 year anniversary. Everything was new and clean, the room was incredibly nice and decorated very well, the entire atmosphere and concept of the hotel is so cool and unique and the prices are very reasonable. "The place is obviously old but it’s well maintained. The AC/heater was hit or miss. Parking was adequate. Close access to Embarcadero and all the good shops and restaurants. The guy in the front asked us if we needed room upkeep in the morning and we said yes. Only the towels were replaced, the bed, which had a flat sheet instead of a fitted sheet, was not made. Otherwise, it was a good stay, overall."

"The deluxe suite was very clean, convenient, and had an excellent view of the bay and a side view of Morro Rock (you have to be right next to the window to see the rock). It is up a steep, narrow flight of stairs and you have to go through the lobby to get to it, but those were the only drawbacks. The couch makes into a queen sized bed, too, so you can honestly sleep 6 normal sized adults in this room. Worth every penny."

"The parking is the worst if you own a 1/2 ton truck, so you’re better off parking on the street with low risk of meter maid tickets. My room did not have an ocean view, but I walked over on the second floor there is a patio that has that Ocean view. Walking distance to the Embarcadero is what makes this Hotel the best location."

The location made it easy to walk to visit the bay front on the Embarcadero, to take in restaurants and shops, and to enjoy the sea life, and beaches near the rock. "The walls had some great prints of classic masterpieces. That was nice. The staff evening and morning only one person each were very nice and helpful. The room was just ok. Someone’s hair in the tub, and just kind of needs a solid upkeep job. Breakfast wasn’t appetizing. It just seemed like it wasn’t truly cared for."
