"This historical property is absolutely beautiful and amazing. The age means the rooms are a bit tight, the windows shook in the high winds that night, and I would have loved some conditioner in the room, but other than that everything was great. Wonderful, elegant bar area and the French restaurant was top notch. If you are coming to see Coimbra, drive a little further and stay at Bussaco Palace... very reasonable rates considering where you are staying. Also tour the attached convent for 3...

"We had to leave without staying. Their promo said wheelchair accessible parking so we thought that meant that handicapped people could stay there. When we got there we were told our room was on an upper floor with no elevator. They told us there were no rooms to match our expectations but we were offered a first floor room in an annex which was a very long walk across uneven floors and not the same view or accommodations as we had paid for. "Staff were helpful, the room was clean and parking was on site which was nice. The grounds around the hotel were quite nice which had many orange and lemon trees loaded with fruit. Pool was being cleaned when we were there and we would not go into the pool even though staff said that we could. It was quite dirty. The hotel is about a 20 minute ride into the heart of Coimbra. We would recommend a taxi or Uber since parking is very hard to find in Coimbra. "
