Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Rooms are too small, door and wardrobe are in conflict, stains on duvet, however, staff are exceptional(considering location) professional, nice and handle service calls in a timely way. Great food, nice accessible location.
The hotel was fine. I had assumed all Protea hotels would be the same and having stayed the previous nights in Protea in Warri I was very surprised that my bedroom was quite small.
Overall it was fine. Everyone was friendly of course and helpful.
This was my third vacation in Benin and it was the best hotel out of the others I had tried.
The staffs made our stay warm. The breakfast menu was comprehensive and delicious. I especially enjoyed the freshly made watermelon juice. I slept soundly in my bed too. Thumbs up to the entire management.
Rooms were nice and staff were ok but the publicly available numbers for the hotel don't work and they didn't respond to messages through the Expedia app which is frustrating because as a solo traveller I wanted to be picked up from the airport for safety.
Eventually I was able to contact the hotel through family connections in the county, but it should not be so difficult.
The Protea Hotel will be my choice for stay in Benin moving forward. The showers were always hot & air conditioner, always cold. The staff was extremely accommodating and prepared to help or offer guidance. The beds could be softer but that’s the standard in the area. I always felt secure about my belongings during my stay. The cleaner was an absolute pleasure every morning, offering new sheets & towels at request. Overall a great stay. Be sure to try the grilled catfish & the ice cold Heineken on draft.

Disliked: Staff & service
The staff need more training. Restaurant needs to put their things together as everything you order is not available. The worst part is they will take the order and be back after 30 mins to tell you is not available. The rooms are clean and good.
The hotel is old and needs to be remodeled. The staff are top notch and go out of their way to accommodate your every need. I felt secure throughout my stay, other than the outdated rooms, this is the best hotel in Benin for now.
Property has been managed well over the years. However the use of rugs on the corridors leading to the rooms should be reconsidered so the public spaces can smell fresher
