We encountered various issues during our stay, which were not satisfactorily resolved despite speaking to staff. We had booked a double room and on check in were directed to a room which was clearly intended only for 1 person (given its size and the fact there was only 1 duvet, 1 pillow, 1 towel). I asked to be moved to a double room, which we were — all good so far. First night’s sleep was bad as the road outside was incredibly noisy, but given the heat the windows needed to be open (no fan/AC). The next day we returned to find housekeeping had not visited & our room key did not work; we got the key sorted but were told housekeeping were gone for the day. The next morning, around 7am, someone came into our room; this happened again at 9.30am. When we asked at reception about this, we were told we shouldn’t even be in the room we were in and should instead be in the tiny single room we’d been initially allocated — there was ongoing work to all the rooms on that floor. The staff were apologetic for someone having come into our room but largely unconcerned; they argued the single room was definitely for two people & didn’t listen to the fact it had been set up for 1. We asked for housekeeping to visit that day. We again returned to find our key card would not work & housekeeping had not visited — when I went to get the key sorted and mention about no housekeeping, the same member of staff from the morning was there and couldn’t have been less interested in trying to help me.
