"For me, the highlight was the check-in staff and evening desk staff on June 28. They were upbeat, enthusiastic, engaging in a way that made me feel good being in this hotel. For the other two days of my stay the staff was fine, but did not equal the energy and personality of that first day. The room was spacious and fine: bed, shower, work area all good. Very quiet on third floor even though 4 young women moved in next door and street construction went on outside. I didn't hear disturbance from any of it. I didn't use the gym. There was a sign for a restaurant on the second floor, but I never found it. For some reason, I didn't ask about it. Instead I found Kung Fu Kitchen on Orange Street just a few blocks away. Highly recommended. Hotel breakfast (at extra charge) was a huge disappointment, maybe the worst I have ever found in hotels and motels around the country and the world. Consisted of a few types of breakfast sandwiches wrapped in foil dripping wet as though they had just been thawed out. Would I stay here again? Yes, certainly, hoping for that great first-day staff again. And the hotel is easily walkable for things that interest me: Yale University Art Gallery, British Art Gallery, Yale Peabody Museum. And the parking garage across the street is conveniently located and connected by an above-street walkway if you need it."

"This is a very clean, basic but nice hotel. It both looks and smells clean. The 8+ rating was well deserved. The staff are helpful and accommodating despite some frustrating things going on - an icemaker was out necessitating a trip to the third floor if you wanted ice, the elevator crapped out - but the staff handled it well and apologized profusely. Housekeeping was really nice as well. I felt safe staying here as a solo traveler. My only issue here was not in any way in the hotel's control - there was a LOT of traffic/road noise and a number of very loud people in the halls one night. The next night at 2 am, they very loudly emptied the trash at the diner next door, complete with clanging bins and back-up alarms, so I didn't sleep great either night I was there. That said, the bed was comfy, the room was clean and I enjoyed my stay otherwise. Decent breakfast but it ends early (930). Lots of nearby stuff for breakfast if you miss it as there's a McDonalds not too far away as well as a Starbucks."

"This property was worn, but clean and quiet. There was some wear and tear in the bathroom, but nothing outrageous. Definitely a good cheap place to stay. There is a Mobil station and Red Lobster directly across the road, and plenty of shops of all kinds on the main road to either side of the motel. Staff was efficient and friendly, with a quick check in/out."

"Surprisingly nice hotel for the money. The furniture was a bit worn; but at that price, who cares? The room was very attractive. The front desk responded immediately when we had a minor issue with the room. The staff were very cordial. We had an excellent stay."

"Clean rooms, small. Outside of building looks horrible but inside everything is fine. Reasonable selection at the breakfast buffet ( although slimmer than in years past)."
