For a property that wasn’t very old it was poorly maintained. I think the staff need help to get the property up to standard.

We were driving down from Queensland and our first stop in New South Wales was at Bourke. We had booked the resort through Wotif in March and received a confirmation email in August that informed us that we should pay on arrival at the property. We called the property in September and was informed again that we are required to pay at the property on arrival. When we arrived close to 7pm the Receptionist informed us that there was an event in town and they were fully booked. He also informed us that all the hotels in town were fully booked. We did show him the August email, but he refused to read the relevant clause through and kept saying that according to their internal procedures if it was confirmed they would have informed us 48 hours prior. This is the first time we heard of such a procedure. It is not acceptable. We were isolated in a strange town and decided to go to the Bourke Police. The Police said they had no knowledge of any event and very kindly gave us a list of motels in town. We were fortunate that there was a room available at one of the motels. We are extremely distressed at the turn of events, as if it has been a woman travelling on her own, she would have been at great risk. We are seniors and our safety and security was equally at risk. We were faced with sleeping in our car........in the town as the next town was 160kms away and the Police informed us it is dangerous to drive at night This should not be allowed to happen to other local tourists.

Our room was neat, tidy and very comfortable. Whilst Bourke may have its issues, this resort was perfect under the conditions, very quiet and safe. The owner was so lovely! Highly recommended if you need to stop over in Bourke!

Didn’t know who to see when we got there. Plug in sink couldn’t be removed. Bathroom door couldn’t be closed. Outside table and chairs were meant to be shared with neighbours but we needed to use them inside. There was only 1 pillow each. TV and Air Conditioning worked well. Security gate was closed at night which was good.

Not worth the price they ask it should not be more than 100$/night. Shower curtains were dirty from bottom side. AC not working properly a lot of noises from neighbourhood really made me unsafe.

Very expensive for this property. Many maintenance problems eg broken front door closer, missing door furniture to bathroom, dirty grouting, no doona cover, curtain falling down, tiny toilet paper roll with no spare etc In contrast the idea of separate cabins in a compound is great but to call it a Resort was laughable. Could be really good with a realistic price, some maintenance and some attention to detail.

Keep looking! Staying at Sunshine Gardens was like staying in a hotel in 3rd world. I booked 2 bedroom unit, had a leak in room, cockroaches no cooking utensils or bowls very poor. Gates locked at 8 pm .safety .pool a petrie dish . Finally after numerous phone calls & screen shots of booking which stated could pay at property was finally agreeed. On site manager did the best he could considering it’s all on him, so I felt sorry for him but standard was below poor.
