"Location was beautiful, hotel was wonderful, staff were fantastic!
I usually go cheaper and more simple. The only reason I went more expensive this time was availability of parking and the pool due to 33 degree heat.
Parking was an additional £29 and the pool had been extremely well used that day.
Having said that, I couldn't have been more grateful for the air conditioning.
I did get a great night sleep and the showers were great."
"We parked in the basement which was amazing in the heatwave! Hotel was clean and although it is dated it is tidy and room was clean. Air conditioning was not working but the room was cool and an effective fan was placed for us. Bed was really comfortable and hotel was great location."
"Old hotel, badly maintained with smelly rooms. The water coming out the bathroom tap had a horrible sewage smell, so my family and I used mineral water to brush the teeth and to wash the face.
There were two lifts but only one working during the whole weekend, and the guests had to share it with the staff transporting food or cleaning supplies.
It was a mess.
I will not return to this hotel."
"It felt like this was a nice hotel 20 or so years ago. When you arrive, you’re greeted by two vending machines (one was empty) and a bar (disused). The staff were friendly, and the bedding was clean. But the rooms? Wall lamps that had unpainted and unsanded plaster behind each one. A free-standing floor lamp that was just a bulb and a stick, the shade long gone. Where the mirror should have been (by the dresser) there were just two metal hooks, and the mirror itself was loose on another table. The toilet had a big wooden box behind it that was clearly water-damaged over many years, but rather than fix it, there was some vinyl flooring (!) attached to the back of the cistern to try and cover it up, except that was just flapping, loose. And the “sea view” room? No sea view, just a garden with some broken beds in it.
If you just need somewhere to sleep, then it’s fine, but if you want a room to relax in, there are plenty of better options."
"We had a very quick check in despite being told we couldnt until 3pm so that was a nice surprise when we arrived early and got to our room in good time but Sadly for the price of a deluxe double room we didn’t get any breakfast included which we’ve never had happen before so unfortunately we had to get food outside to our preference but we did eat a very nice lunch Buddha bowl in the dining room area and was very tasty despite not having any grilled tofu which was on the menu but did not have (was told it was a new menu). Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Wanted to thank a certain lady who was very nice and helpful to us by the name of Annalise I believe or Anna for short.
I would like to add if the hotel can display signs of asking customers to respect other guests sleeping during the night when returning back late and shouting and loud talking in the corridors it would be appreciated. Dont think we shall be back in Brighton for a good while now and will consider other alternatives with breakfast included (if vegan is available.) should we visit again."
"Small room with no wardrobe or chest of drawers - just a random shelving unit with a foot long pole to hang clothes on. Ive stayed in a mercure before with small rooms, and just in case had booked a room with double and single bed so the single bed ended up with all our belongings on. £150 per night! Breakfast was also a problem. Hotel was busy and there were only 2 hot drinks machines. The set up for breakfast was too small for the number of guests staying."
"We had a sea view room with a balcony which was lovely and room very spacious with all you needed. Breakfast buffet was really nice with lots of different options to choose from."
"We stayed at Leonardo Royal Hotel Brighton and unfortunately the experience was very disappointing.
The swimming pool was not fully usable during our stay, which was one of the main reasons we booked this hotel.
Our room was booked for three guests, but it was only prepared for two. Basic items were missing and not set up correctly.
Several maintenance issues were also present on arrival, including an empty handwash bottle with a broken trigger, a faulty door handle, and an iron that did not work properly.
Overall, the room was not properly maintained or prepared, and the issues reported were not resolved during our stay.
Very disappointing experience and not reflective of the standard expected."
