"A very friendly welcome, they were happy to accommodate our very late (11.30pm) arrival after we travelled there on the ferry. The owners have recently taken it over and in the last few weeks completed an overhaul of the bar/restaurant area which looks lovely. "We were very pleasantly surprised to learn our 1 room family suite had 2 separate bedrooms. Beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was nice. Only issues were that we only had 1 key which made it tricky every time we went separate places. Also there was an illuminated exit sign in the king bedroom we had to cover up it was so bright, and when others shut their doors it would thump ours. Loved the skylights, was a bit stuffy but those helped. Loved the breakfast!"

"The owner was so warm, hospitable, and willing to help with any problems I had. He really went out t of his way to make me feel comfortable and cared for. Breakfast was wonderful---lots of hotels and cold choices in a clean, cozy breakfast room. Parking lot was easy to enter and leave with ample space for all cars."

"This was expensive for what it was but I guess there are a lot of tourists in Orkney and not a lot of accommodation! Over £200 a night for a small room, double bed (not king). The rate did include breakfast, which was adequate (order from list the night before). The hotel did have a restaurant - food was fine - and a bar and friendly barman. Staff were lovely altogether. I have never been to Orkney before so can’t make any comparisons but I suspect this may be among the better places to stay. Lots of room to park the car. Sea view."

"Perfect place to stay in the quiet and laid back village of Dounby as it is close to a lot of archeological sites which are about 10 to 20 minutes away in every direction. Very friendly and attentive staff. Great food as well. Spacious parking in the back. There is a gas station and a market across the street so you don’t have to worry about driving too far to refuel and get food. This place will be my go-to the next time I travel to Orkney Islands!"
