Clean room a bit cosy but still very nice. Light switches electronic so lovely to look at but temperamental. Only been open 3 weeks when we arrived The staff had a few teething problems to deal but all lovely. Overall v good great location and would stay again
Great check in experience. Got there before 1pm and my room was ready. The staff ran through all I needed to know about the hotel and virtually took me to my room.
The room was clean and comfortable, which had a small kitchenette. Nice to have a Nespresso machine, great touch. I had a great nights sleep in a lovely bed, what more could you want. The shower was easy to use even for me! You push a button and works! Brilliant.
The building itself is stunning, especially the restaurant/bar which has lots of history. All the staff there are so helpful and kind, I’ll be coming back that’s for sure.
I highly recommend this hotel.
Good location and lovely property
It’s a new venue and unfortunately they still have some teething issues . Had to get 4 different keys ,lift not working and leak in reception which unfortunately has ruined a lovely oak table.
Room was great though well laid out and had everything you needed including kettle coffee machine microwave and clothes steamer.
We would stay again
I'd booked this weekend for my boyfriend's birthday. Great location, small room, clean other than a hair in the shower upon entering. Shower was terrible, had to use the hand attachment which would make hair washing tricky. Toilet constantly trying to fill up (did mention shower & toilet to receptionist, but there was no improvement). I'd also asked for something to be left in the room for my boyfriends birthday & exoected to pay, but this was nlt done.
Lovely new hotel in renovated, historical surroundings! My room was gorgeous, the shower was large and had really nice product, the staff were helpful (although there was some confusion about how often the room got cleaned and it if was possible to request a greater frequency). Note: they need to staff more people for the restaurant. It's a beautiful place but if there's only one person managing orders, billing, and the espresso bar, they're going to be stressed. That's not the staff's fault, that's a matter of management.
I would not recommend this hotel despite the building itself being quite nice.
On arrival, the hotel’s systems were down, which meant we had to wait a significant amount of time just to check in. Once we finally accessed the room, it was immediately obvious that it had not been cleaned at all. There were multiple hygiene issues, including used items left behind and a bathroom that was clearly still in use by the previous guest. It was completely unacceptable and not fit to stay in.
When I went back to reception to raise this, I then had to wait again for a long time to speak to a manager. No alternative rooms were available, so we had no option but to leave and find accommodation elsewhere at short notice.
While the building looks good on the outside, the overall experience highlighted serious operational and management problems, particularly around basic cleanliness, room turnaround, and handling issues when things go wrong. For those reasons, I would not stay here again or recommend it to others.
I had really high hopes for our stay at this new Cambridge hotel… as the Instagram stories /website looked fantastic; which perhaps made the reality all the more disappointing!
We arrived on the 12th December. Cambridge was as usual, beautifully decorated for Christmas.
The Hobson, No tree… in fact, not a single decoration in sight. The receptionist response, “ we’ve been too busy to think about Christmas”.
Not the response expected when arriving for a festive stay and a real disappointment when walking past other hotels it was clear had made huge efforts to make their customer’s experience the best positive with some beautiful decorations. Not the Hobson!
On check in, the staff appeared inexperienced and dismissive. Zero information about the hotel, restaurant/breakfast options/times etc, check out, Wifi. literally nothing!
The only input from them was a demand for money for a room that I had already paid for in full, and was made to ‘prove’ that I had paid prior by showing them a copy of my Expedia receipt. Rude and unprofessional.
The room, although appeared clean in principle, had 2 chocolate wrappers on the floor!! Their mere presence makes you question how well cleaned it ‘actually’ was where staff cannot be bothered to clear up wrappers!
Check out was a shambles. The couple in front of us simply wanted an invoice printed. Almost 30 MINUTES later, the staff member was still floundering with no invoice printed out.
A shame. Promised so much. Delivered so little
