We are a family of 3, traveling around this part of Spain by car. We join the many people before us who have given their glowing reviews here, echoing how clean and tastefully decorated the house is, how friendly and welcoming the family is, and the stunning views from the property one can enjoy. Jaime speaks good English, if you can’t speak Spanish like us, and he was most helpful in advising our visits, activities and eating out in the area.
It’s for people with own transport as is a bit off the public transport routes.
We loved it and would definitely recommend it highly.
The location and home is magical. The views are breathtaking. Such a very special place. The owners welcome you in as if it is your own home. Attention to every detail to make your stay special and comfortable. The breakfasts are unique and delicious. The family that own and run this gem are the most amazing hosts! I was traveling alone and they made me feel so welcomed and helped me map out my excursions and delicious places to eat. If you are traveling to this region a stay here is a must. You won’t find a nicer location for a trip to the Cangas de Onis.
Totally amazing stay. The room, the views, the food (breakfast and dinner), the host. One of the best places we have ever stayed. Cannot recommend it enough. The pictures don't do it justice.
We were returning to southern Spain after a 3 week whirlwind visit to the UK, seeing friends and family and wanted to see more of the mountains in Northern Spain, having spent one day driving through the area last year. The hotel ticked all the boxes, having a restaurant, wifi, mountain views but the reality far outweighed our expectations. Jaimie, our host, was so welcoming and hospitable and made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. He prepared all the meals personally and each one was a culinary delight with local recipes. The guest house was a real home from home, with a spacious lounge area and log fire. The room was clean and very comfortable and we slept soundly despite the faint tinkle of cow bells in the background..the mountain air must have helped us sleep!!
The hotel is on one of the routes in the Back Roads of Spain book (Drive 3) and is the perfect spot to start and finish the drive even though you may have to backtrack to get back to the hotel - we drove both ways on the AS114 and discovered views that we had missed on the first run so it's worth doing.
To sum up, our stay was the perfect way to rest and relax after a busy April and we will definitely include Jaime's home as a stopping place when we make our next trip north. We have to return anyway to see if the family dog managed to produce pups as she was being "courted" while we were there....!
