"We stayed at the Mercure Hotel Cherbourg for one night and, overall, had a very pleasant stay.
Check-in was quick and efficient, and we received a warm, friendly welcome from the staff. The hotel's location is excellent, and our room was spacious, clean, quiet, and had very comfortable beds, making for a great night's sleep.
The only disappointing part of our stay was lunch in the hotel restaurant. Unfortunately, the service was fairly average, and the food was well below the standard we expected. I ordered the chicken focaccia with fries, and it was honestly the worst hotel lunch I've had. The sandwich appeared to have come straight from the fridge, with very cold bread and wilted salad leaves. Most disappointing was the chicken, which consisted of brown leg meat containing pieces of cartilage and bone. It was not enjoyable, I didn't eat it (staff did not enquire as to why) and certainly didn't reflect the quality of the hotel itself.
Despite this, we would happily stay at the hotel again, but we would choose to eat elsewhere next time."
"Spacious, Comfortable Stay with Excellent Service
We stayed at Appart'City Confort Cherbourg for one night on our journey home, and it was an excellent choice.
Check-in was quick and efficient, and the staff were genuinely friendly and attentive both on arrival and at check-out, making us feel very welcome.
Our studio apartment was much larger than we expected, with a separate seating area and TV, a comfortable double bedroom, and a spacious bathroom with a lovely shower. It was ideal for relaxing after a long day of travelling.
The location is excellent, with easy access to the town and port, making it a very convenient place to stay before or after a ferry crossing.
There is really only one area that could be improved: some form of air conditioning would make a big difference, especially during warmer weather. Apart from that, we couldn't fault our stay.
Overall, we had a very comfortable and enjoyable overnight stay and would happily choose to stay here again when travelling through Cherbourg."
"A great little hotel tucked away in the pedestrian area with easy free parking on (Parking Divette) a few minutes walk. Reception staff very friendly and helpful and room immaculately clean and tidy with zero clutter. I didn't get breakfast, but it looked well set up with a small dining area for the morning. Check in was smooth and a lift provides easy access to the upper floors. Would definately book again."
"Ideal for the ferry, great restaurants and amazing breakfast.Staff were pleasant and helpful. No parking at hotel but plenty of free parking near to it. A great buzz.😊"
"Well situated hotel close to the old town and not far from the museums, port, station etc. Good secure parking (9 spaces), reasonable price and comfortable room and bed.
Two complaints; pillow was too hard, bath was too small."
"Don't be put off by the 2☆ rating. This wee hotel is good.
The staff are friendly, maid service prompt and efficient and location is excellent. Pretty much central in town and lot's of cafes and restaurant's on the doorstep. The rooms are clean and spacious, however a little outdated. I have stayed in 4☆'s that were worse though..The bed is comfortable.
Negatives are over the weekend it gets noisy from midnight until around 3/4am due to proximity of late opening bars. Not a big issue though.. The toilet whilst clean could definitely do with a refresh but again it's marketed at a 2☆ so i cant really complain, and again its better than some 4☆'s I've stayed in. There is no elevator so you have to carry luggage up the stairs to your room.
The price for my 6 days was so cheap compared to other hotels in Cherbourg. Excellent value.
I would definitely stay here again and I genuinely didn't think i would say that when i booked what I thought was a cheap 2☆ hotel. It's definitely the best 2☆ hotel I've stayed in. "
