"Overall the hotel was nice and clean. The reception staff were excellent and the fittness centre was great. The room was a little tried with some fittings looking worse for wear. Carpet had some undesirable stains and there was a faint smell of vomit. I suspect a previous guest had a bad night at somepoint. I can't comment on the food as I went out, but the location and parking were fantastic."

"A great location if you're spending time in Colchester town center, visiting the castle and sampling the many wonderful pubs and restaurants in the area. The rooms were nice and roomy. They did tell us ahead of time that the room was on two floors (bed upstairs and lounge/study downstairs), a nice layout although a bit of a trip hazard if you need to use the bathroom in the middle of the night and don't want to wake your partner. The staff were friendly and attentive."

"Beautiful room overlooking countryside, spotlessly clean. Friendly staff, lovely outside spaces to sit and relax. Vegetarian breakfast was great. Everything was perfect"

"This hotel has a great location just outside Colchester in the University Campus. Lovely staff - very friendly and helpful. Very good breakfast, but limited dinner options for the vegetarian /vegans. Our room in the old part of the hotel was nicely decorated but had an odd layout and an uncomfortable bed. I was told the new wing of the hotel is better. Notwithstanding that, it was a good stay and great value for money."
