"I stayed here in the early 1980s, when I was in my early teens. It has been upgraded since then, but still provided that wonderful nostalgic feeling I had when I first visited the Outer Banks! I wanted my kids to experience this as well, so we booked a room for several days. We stayed in a courtyard room, which was still very quiet and comfortable, despite being next to the entrance drive. "Super amazing and fun BUT… walls are the opposite of sound proof. Could hear people nextdoor and upstairs very clearly. Not a big deal during the day, but my kids are 8pm bedtimers so the 10pm stomping upstairs was pretty annoying. Otherwise, perfect for the extra couple of days we wanted at the beach."

"Overall, I had a pleasant stay. The hotel is pet friendly and welcoming to service animals, which was a big plus. One thing to know before visiting is that dogs are not allowed on the beach in Kill Devil Hills from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. during the summer.
