  • The second oldest building remaining on The Ohio State University campus, Orton Hall was opened in 1893. It is named after Dr Edward Orton, Sr. who served as Ohio State's first president, OSU Professor of Geology from 1873 to 1899, and Ohio's State Geologist from 1882 until his death in 1899. Orton Hall is built of 40 different Ohio building stones. In the outside walls, these stones are laid in stratigraphic order according to their relative positions in Ohio's bedrock. The only non-indigenous to Ohio stone used is Indiana Limestone to build the front steps. It was chosen because of its high concentration of embedded fossils. The bell tower was dedicated in 1915 and contains 25,000 pounds of bells that can be heard regularly tolling across campus. Encircling the top of the tower are 24 columns with gargoyle-like figures which are restorations of fossil animals.

I loved all of the amenities. The only down fall was how loud house keeping/the staff were early in the morning. They woke me outta my sleep being extremely loud by pushing their carts or bins, which took away from having a late checkout. Everything else was absolutely perfect! I will stay again!

Perfect hotel for weekend stay at Easton. Everything in walking distance. Rooms were clean, plenty of room comfortable beds. Right across from Pins Mechanical. Walk right back to hotel after evening of checking out various bars.

The room was clean and they definitely go for a hipster, modern vibe. Just know that the walls are paper thin, you can hear EVERYTHING including housekeeping using a broom and mop on the floor above you😆. It didn’t bother me because I can sleep through anything, but if you’re sensitive to noise you might want to try another place. Staff was friendly, I only interacted with the registration clerk and he was pleasant. Great location at Easton and the free parking garage next door mean very easy parking.

The downstairs was pretty cool to look at and lots to do around. The rooms were pretty basic. Check in was 3pm and check out was noon so that was nice. Only downfall was there was someone “working” on the door next to us at 10am very loud. Kept opening and closing the door which we found incredibly rude since we were traveling for hours and of course we needed to get some sleep. Mentioned it to the receptionist and I feel like she kinda just brushed it off.

Nice loft space rooms

Funky loft space hotel in the middle of an affluent upscale shopping center district. This store is directly across the street from Macy's and a short walk from all sorts of great restaurants and shopping. The hotel restaurant is an upscale steakhouse which delivers as expected. The bar downstairs is reasonable.
