The staff at Daintree Wilderness tried unsuccessfully to notify us and unsolicited found us another hotel nearby to stay Cockatoo hotel which was lovely the owner was gracious and helpful and the room had a large window overlooking the forest. "Hotel centrally located. 1-2 blocks from Four Mile Beach and a few blocks from the stores and restaurants. Ideal. Free parking. Small pool area but made to look like a beach. Small “spa” room. Breakfast buffet $40 and also small and limited choices so we skipped."

"This was one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve had. We arrived, anticipating an attractive and heated pool. We discovered a very dirty, shabby out of date pool that was cold. After much communication with Expedia, the owners of the hotel turned up the temperature on the pool. "When you walk into the room you know it’s fresh and lovely cleaned, the colours made you feel happy and relaxed. The fridge was bigger than a bar freeze, that’s a big plus. Loved the NBQ area, everything was then and a large bbq. The bbq was in the pool area with its own table and chairs. Plenty of other chairs for the pool people. I’ll be back ❤️ it"

"We loved our jungle experience here. We saw a cassowary when we first parked! The staff was helpful, the communal kitchen was always clean and the common area was a great place for the kids to play games while we chatted. A must do for travellers wanting a unique experience in the Daintree."

"Old hotel, but well maintained. No elevator, and a deep jetted tub for a shower that would be difficult for someone older or anyone with mobility issues to get in and out of. The room included some basic kitchen supplies which was nice. Excellent location for exploring the town or 4 mile beach. Car park was convenient"

"Communication with Sonya & Robin, the managers, was excellent. Location perfect to all amenities. The apartment and surrounding communal areas was very clean and had everything you needed for a relaxing stay including laundry facilities, bbqs and a car park. "Good location to visit surrounding areas. We stayed in a deluxe cabin and a standard cabin for 2 nights. Comfortable room sizes. Pool could use couple more chairs or loungers for guests to use. Landscaping opportunities around the property to alleviate less mud build-up might want to be considered. Easy check-in, check out. Suggest pack food, or have a set of wheels to get to the few available restaurants."
