Hilton Garden Inn Dana Point Doheny Beach

"Hotel manager James contacted me after check in to tell me the rate Expedia charged for my room was excessive and I should have Expedia call him so he could get me a lower rate. I called Expedia and they as n hold while they spoke to Hames. Expedia told James that Hilton was in control of the rate and then told me that James would call me and would provide an adjusted rate. I called James and went to see James at the front desk. In both instances James then refused to give me the going rate. Expedia rate charged $622. Rate on Hilton.com $175. James said the rate I was seeing on my Hilton app was not correct. He said the real rate was $435 + parking of $45. So he begrudgingly adjusted the rate to $500 which was still $325 more than the typical rate. Clearly it was my fault for not catching the excessive rate on my confirmation email. I booked in a hurry for my son’s baseball tournament but I would never spend that much on a Hilton Garden Inn overlooking the freeway. My fault. But why flag the rate as excessive when I checked in, offer an adjustment, ask me to call Expedia, and then fight me on it? What could have been an amazing customer service experience became the absolute opposite. The whole thing was extremely frustrating and disappointing."

"This hotel was in a decent location, but unfortunately, there’s no access to the beach directly across the street. You have to go over this ridiculously huge bridge in order to get to the beach, which is a very rocky beach so we just drove to Laguna each day. One thing I was very disappointed in was the fact I specifically decided to book this place so I can relax in the hot tub and look at the ocean. The view from the hot tub is good. However, the hot tub did not have any jets flowing whatsoever. So it was pretty much like taking a bath. For the first two days, the hot tub was ideal temperature but towards the end it got lukewarm. For the property managers this is something where a little can go a long way.! just fix the Jets to appease your customers. It’s really not a hard thing to do. And I would imagine it would boost your reviews a ton if the hot tub actually had jets. We also had trouble sleeping some nights because we stayed on the second floor and the floor above us, you could hear everything. Anytime someone moved any furniture or walked fastly you could hear it."

"If could give this hotel 1,000 stars, I would! The decor was absolutely stunning and reminded us of our favorite places in Puerto Vallarta. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the two fireplaces made for the perfect nightcap and a truly relaxing evening. The staff at the front desk were amazing—friendly, welcoming, and attentive. The amenities were top-notch, including Le Labo shampoo, conditioner, soap, and lotion (the same brand sold at Nordstrom). The view was breathtaking, and to top it all off, there was a record player in the room with our favorite band, Stick Figure, ready to play. It felt like every detail had been thoughtfully curated to create a memorable experience. This will be our one and only spot for future staycations. We can't wait to come back!"
