Watch the blurring speed, feel the vibration and listen to the roar of stock cars racing around the oval track of Delaware Speedway. Imagine yourself at the wheel as drivers speed along the flat and execute the tight turns lap after lap at speeds approaching 100 miles per hour (160 kilometers per hour).
Delaware Speedway has offered stock car racing for more than 60 years. Bring your family or a group of friends for an enjoyable afternoon or evening. Take a seat in the grandstand or bring a blanket or lawn chair to sit on the grassy rise surrounding the 0.5-mile (0.8-kilometer) track. Enjoy adult beverages at the Beer Patio overlooking the track or reserve the air-conditioned VIP Lounge with a full-service bar and private viewing deck.
Use binoculars to study activities at the track. Watch teams compare their capabilities, mechanics make final car adjustments and drivers complete pre-race rituals.
Select from more than 20 events from May through September that feature stock cars, trucks and vintage models. Watch future racers build their skills during the Wednesday night Junior Racing League for kids from age 8 to 17 in specially designed half-scale models. Attend the season finale of October’s Pumpkin Smasher, which features a demolition derby.
Purchase tickets in advance online or at the gate. Admission is reduced for seniors and students, with children under 10 admitted free. The gate opens in the early evening for most events, allowing time to enjoy food from the concessions and watch a pretty sunset from the hillside. In case of inclement weather, check the website to determine if an event has been postponed.
