"Stayed a few nights at the Shangri la in Chengdu. I’ve stayed there many times over the years for both business and travel. It feels like home. The staff are always wonderful and accommodating. Shout out to Morgan Li, one of the concierge staff, who was very helpful with suggestions for getting around Chengdu and good conversation. "The hotel looks very shabby from the outside. Initially very difficult to check in as none of the staff speak any English at all. I was with someone who could speak a little Chinese, but it was still not easy to make ourselves understood. It is therefore also impossible to order breakfast or to get assistance with tours/tickets as stated in the hotel information. The rooms are certainly not sound proof as stated, and can be booked very cheaply on an hourly rate, so it was sometimes very noisy...
