"The staff and the breakfast were amazing however the rooms have no shampoo (body wash is not going to do it for me), no lotion, no tissues and no phone. No phone makes it extremely difficult for overseas visitors to contact reception. Even the charming lady on reception who confirmed that these amenities were not offered in the hotel states that they were a budget hotel ‘but maybe not - we are quite expensive’. "

"Booked a one night stay to extend another hotel stay close by so we could do the Churnet Valley rail trip. Had a comfortable stay, everything very clean & comfortable. Was a little disconcerted to find we were actually staying in the house with the owner, an unknown experience for us. Julie was very friendly & helpful. Really appreciated the cold bottles of water we were given and the brunch bar."

"The welcome we received at the Dog and Partridge from David was excellent. We were quickly booked in and directed to our accommodation. A good feature was that our vehicles were able to be parked close to the room. The room was clean, well maintained and perfectly satisfactory. We had an evening meal in the restaurant which was served without undue delay and was adequate and nourishing. Local Alton beer, which was available at the bar went down a treat. After a sound sleep, and shower we had breakfast in the hotel. This again was perfectly fine and met all of our expectations. The hotel itself is set in rolling countryside and has marvellous views over unspoilt pastures and distant woodland. It is quite idyllic. I would certainly recommend this hotel to any traveller."

"Absolutely fabulous. Would highly recommend. The owner was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the local area. So much so that we will be returning to explore the area further. Great location for Alton Towers with wonderful pubs close by too. We had an issue with our taxi not arriving in the morning and had a panic to get to the station on time. The owner emailed me to check we had got our train on time. Very thoughtful and we will be back to stay again soon. Thank you."

"We will never stay onsite at Alton Towers again if this property is available! Closer to the park entrance than hotels, no need to battle the monorail crowds. Georgina the owner was extremely friendly & her communication for check in was excellent. The home itself was newly renovated to an exceptionally high standard. Perfectly clean with all the amenities provided for a short stay. Highly recommended and we will definitely be booking again if lucky to find it available."
