"Clean room, but it is an old building which inevitably presents a few challenges when being maintained. The staff we met were happy and extremely friendly, special mention to the waitress at breakfast who explained she had been there for 26 years, what a great sense of humour. The property is within half a mile of the main station, well situated, and just stone’s throw from the Minster. I would happily stay there again when I next visit York"

The start was not good, however, as upon entering the room, I found that it had not been serviced. I cannot remember if I received an apology - suggesting that maybe I didn't - but the hotel deducted the price of two bottles of wine from a dinner for 8 as a paliative.
