"Lovely well kept grounds,comfortable beds,helpful staff and food decent enough. Nice walk into town centre. I would like a better light for nighttime reading and a bigger television(visual impairment) My 3rd time staying here while visiting the D and G hospital and I would happily stay here again."

"Parking was easy and room was very clean. Staff were very nice and the discount on food from shops for breakfast was very welcome. Walk around the lake was a nice way to relax after long drive on busy roads"

"Nice budget-friendly hotel in the town center. Great breakfast, friendly staff, and clean rooms. The only minor downside is that it can be rather loud, as by main busy street full of pubs and nightclubs."

"Staff very friendly. Accommodation great as facilities brilliant. Lovely pool, lawn tennis courts, table tennis, putting, beautiful gardens, lovely outdoor patio, had gym but never went, Felt the dinning area seating could be improved but am aware lots of upgrading being done. Great choice at breakfast and food lovely. Service great. We had 2 dogs and being on ground floor with door outside was perfect."

"The Hill Hotel is located in a quiet location, but is only a 10-15 minute walk into the center of Dumfries. The building interior has been lovingly restored, and is very clean. The owners are very friendly and gave us lots of great advice about places to visit in the surrounding areas. A very good breakfast too! Highly recommended."

"A very decent hotel 5 mins from the train station. Room was hot (July) even with the window open, which was not ideal due to the constant noise of the seagulls (an unfortunate consequence of them being protected for some reason!) Nice staff/owner. Good breakfast. Good value for money."
