5 out of 5
The property is a historic building with a lot of charm. The elevator is a blast from the past and you do not see that kind anymore. It is what I would call a lift with a grate that safely locks when the elevator is in motion. Watch out for your fingers...lol. I booked a room with a shared bathroom and it was not as bad as I would have thought. The bathrooms are kept immaculate and are located in close proximity to rooms that must share. I had no difficulty when I needed it.
The hotel is not large, meaning that you will hear traffic and noises much more succinctly than with larger hotel chains. The halls are more narrow but that adds to the charm of an older building. There are no amenities in the hotel, such as coffee pots which was a big problem for me; however, there are tons of stores within a 5 minute walk where you can buy coffee. The rooms do not have a refrigerator or microwave either so take care that you know this before booking. Yes, the rooms are small but has sufficient room for one person. The television was I believe 20 inches but who watches tv when on vacation in New York?!
Overall, my experience was wonderful because I absolutely love historic buildings and the staff were unsurpassed in courteousness. Truly, to be in Manhattan and so close to Times Square, the subways, and all of the amenities that Manhattan offer, you cannot beat the price of this hotel. Maximum stars for me.ā¦The property is a historic building with a lot of charm. The elevator is a blast from the past and you do not see that kind anymore.
